Patricia Hinton

BIO

Growing up amidst the hills and streams of northwestern New Jersey, Pat spent a lot of time walking with her father through the woods. She experienced a joy in nature and developed a love all of organic forms.

Art was a constant in her life, and she always sketched what was around her, drawing people, animals and the landscape.

Travel was an inspiration, especially backpacking through Europe and visiting the Louvre and the Van Gogh Museum.

Education took her to Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a BFA in Ceramics and Textiles. Pat has worked as a potter, and illustrator and most recently a librarian. Retirement has enabled Pat to focus on her art and to paint full-time. She works mainly in gouache and multimedia collage.

Her work has been shown at Sunflower Gallery in Wake Forest and at Louisburg College.

“I find beauty and inspiration in everyday scenes of family and friends as well as in the landscape and still life arrangements. I strive to create a harmony of simplified forms and colors. In addition to painting what I see, I try and share what I feel with the viewer.”

Pat has a studio in Louisburg, NC. Contact her by email at plghinton@gmail.com or by phone at 919-495-1736 to schedule a visit. You can find her on Instagram as patghinton.
